All students have access to UNIFROG which gives all the local/national/international information links and resources for colleges, sixth forms, apprenticeships and universities.
The Careers education, information, and guidance (CEIAG) programme at Weaverham High School plays a major part in raising aspirations and helping young people choose pathways that suit their interests, abilities, and individual needs. Our programme supports students in choosing 14 – 19 pathways that suit their interests and skills and inspire them to consider a range of career pathways to help ensure sustained employability throughout their working lives. Our Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance programme is central to the school’s personal development provision and the ‘Aspire to Inspire’ and ‘Be the Best Version of Yourself’ components of the whole school ethos.
Our vision is for careers provision that aims to raise our students’ aspirations; to broaden their horizons; to inspire and to empower them to make informed course choices and realistic decisions at key transition points in learning and in preparation for the world of work. We want all students to have knowledge and resilience to be clear about the skills they need to acquire in order to achieve their aspirations, reach their full career potential, meet the needs of employers and to contribute to economic growth, both locally, nationally and on a global scale

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
Year 9 is an important year for students; they get to choose which option subjects and qualifications to study within Key Stage 4, albeit the academic traditional GCSE qualifications or the revised rigorous vocational qualifications of Technical Awards. This is the first opportunity that they get to make decisions that may affect their future career. Our students are thoroughly prepared for this during their PSHCE lessons, assemblies, informal information advice and guidance session, options evening and Careers Aspirations Fair and having access to Unifrog careers platform.
Lessons in years 7 and 8 focus on pupils recognising their individual skills, strengths and qualities alongside beginning to explore what skills and qualities are needed in the world of work and what the work environment is like.
It is important for students to choose the right courses as they can; determine the sixth form that they go to; determine the qualifications that a student may take at Level 3; be used to assess if a student is suitable for a particular course at University; or affect the career a student is suitable for in the future.
