Meet the Team
SEND Meet The Team!
As the Head of SEND Joanne Farquhar operationally oversees the Learning Support Team at Weaverham High School. Our dedicated team of 19 staff members provide and deliver excellent support to all our students.
As a Team Manager, Joanne Farquhar oversees all aspects regarding our Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) students. Liaises with the SEND Governor and the Trusts SEND Lead and is an active member within the Local SENCO Networks. With over 24 years’ teaching experience, Joanne proudly continues to be a lifelong learner, with a passion to drive quality and equity.
As the assistant SENDCO Rebecca Measures oversees transition from KS2 to KS3 she works across Cheshire West to provide bespoke transition plans for our year 6 into 7 cohort building relationships with some of our more vulnerable students. Rebecca is often the first port of call for advice on referrals with established links from Autism Services to Vision Support providing up to date, relevant guidance.
Learning Support Assistants (LSA’S)
Our Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) work alongside teachers in the classroom.
All LSAs are experienced, hold relevant qualifications and have a specific professional interest in one or more specific learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
Katie Christie-Katie works across the school and supports KS4 Photography. She is a trained mental-health first aider and works with the pastoral team in year 7
Nicola Colquitt- Nicola works across the school supporting students at KS4 Science and Art she also runs form time SALT sessions, Art for well-being and Lego friendship groups.
Katy Mc Gregor-Katie works across the school and supports KS4 English. She works with the pastoral team in year 7 to ensure our new cohort are well supported.
Rachel Hall- Rachel works within the English department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions at form time for year 11 students. The “Total Recall” intervention works with bespoke groups of students in the school day.
Deb Johanson- Deb works within the Geography department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions at form time for year 9 students. Deb is completing her ELSA training. She works with Mark Tonge with Wilderness Therapy.
Rachel Kruithof- Rachel works within the History department at KS3 and KS4 and Music at KS4 for our students with EHCPs. Rachel will begin her ELSA training in the next academic year.
Odie Lai- Odie works within the Science and Maths department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions at form time for year 10 and 11 students.
Becky Lancaster- Becky works within the IT department at KS3 and KS4. Rebecca is ELSA and LEXONIK trained and helps students who need phonics intervention and ELSA sessions.
Jess Lightfoot- Jess works within the Business department at KS4 and The Hive to support KS3 and 4. Jess is LEXONIK trained and helps students who need phonics intervention.
Patricia Perez Martin- Pat works within the MFL department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions at form time for year 10 and 11 students. Pat helps the year 9 pastoral team.
Emma Rowlands-Emma works within the English department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions at form time for year 11 students. Emma is also ELSA trained.
Naomi Ryan- Naomi works within the Maths department at KS3 and KS4. Naomi is our ASC key worker and runs our social skills groups for students who require support to develop relationships. Naomi also develops the enrichment opportunities for the department to enhance students’ cultural capital
Suzanne Sharpes- Suzanne works within the English department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions. Suzanne is also LEXONIK trained and helps students who need phonics intervention.
Mark Tonge-Mark is the academic and emotional support coordinator for our students who require some time in the internal alternative provision called The Hive. This bespoke provision is used primarily for students with EHCPs but also to support the pastoral team in achieving the best possible outcome for our students. Mark and Deb Johanson take groups for Wilderness therapy during the spring and summer terms
Alison Woodward- Alison works within the Art and DT department at KS3 and KS4 she supports the team with interventions for students. Alison also runs IDL an intervention to support our Dyslexic students.
Julie Yardley-Julie works alongside SEND and departments to ensure all students have accurate and timely access arrangements for exams. Julie coordinates the transferring of these documents to post-16 providers ensuring that their “usual way of working” continues.
